Year by year
What the journey looks like
- Year 1
Foundations
Maths, physics, programming and engineering drawing: the common base for every branch.
- Year 2
Core subjects
Your branch begins in earnest: data structures, circuits, thermodynamics or structures, depending on the stream.
- Year 3
Specialise
Electives, mini-projects and your first internship. This is where interests become direction.
- Year 4
Launch
Final-year project, campus placements, and preparation for GATE, CAT or GRE if higher study is the goal.

The grind, honestly
How hard is this path?
DemandingBright's overall rating
A focused two years of CET/JEE preparation, then four structured years. Branch choice matters more than people expect, so pick one you'll enjoy, not just the one with the highest cutoff.
- Entrance competition4/5
Top colleges and computer branches need very high percentiles.
- Course workload3/5
Steady and project-heavy; manageable with consistent effort.
- Years before you earn2/5
Four years, often with paid internships along the way.
- Cost3/5
Ranges widely: government-aided seats cost far less than private un-aided ones.

Questions
Common questions about Engineering
Is MHT-CET or JEE Main better for Maharashtra colleges?
Both are accepted in the state CAP process. JEE Main additionally opens NITs, IIITs and (with JEE Advanced) IITs through JoSAA.
Can diploma holders join engineering?
Yes. Through Direct Second Year (DSE) admission you join the second year of a B.E./B.Tech programme.
Does the branch or the college matter more?
It depends on your goals. We help you compare both, using cutoffs and the career you're aiming for, rather than one rule for everyone.
